Passion is the energy that keeps us going and fills us with meaning, anticipation and excitement. Ultimately, it is the driving force to happiness and success.
You as business people, would hear all the time: "if you have a career that you love, you will never have to work a day in your life." The saying couldn't be more truthful. Finding something that you are so devoted to, can be the most empowering breakthrough of your life. Honestly, who wouldn't want to get out of bed, get out the door and say that they spend majority of their day doing something they love?
It's crazy how much more you will focus on something if you are passionate about it. All of a sudden your heart and soul gets poured into your project or business and you find that it is so much bigger than you thought. It seems like less 'effort' because there is a want to do it. You will push harder, and challenge yourself, because the end game is much more than a net result to you, it actually means something.
People talk this down way too much, having a love for what you do. I, however, cannot express how integral it is- to be passionate about your career. Only then will you have a healthy mindset, knowing that what you do every day is not a waste of your time, but a step closer to your life's goal, to success.
Let's not misunderstand here though, success requires so much more than just this one trait. It necessitates hard-work, diligence, focus and leadership (just to name a few). However, once you are passionate about your career, it becomes a lifestyle, and that's when you start to touch other peoples lives. Passion is the difference between you, and the same business down the street. It differentiates the people who just do it, and the people who want to do it. A career without passion is like taking a road trip, without a destination. You have your map, your treats and some helpful sing-a-longs, but what is the point without knowing where it is to be at the end of the day?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that your passion should be confined to your job title. For instance, my passion is words. What I want in this lifetime is to inspire a generation or a revolution or maybe just change one life, using jumbled letters on a page. And I might be able to do that, and I might not, but it's that fight and passion behind my dream that makes my work so unique, so different, so genuine.
